Please see the menu sections for step by step instructions on how to use your Joey Mei Tai.
All of the carries can be practised over a soft surface such as a bed or sofa. It is a good idea to practise in front of a mirror, particularly with back carries. Practise using a doll at first. When you first try with your baby, have another adult to help you if possible. Always check your work and make sure your baby is secure. A small mirror is useful when out and about, particularly for back carries. SlingView sell mirrors designed especially for this.
When you are carrying your baby in a sling, please be aware of your baby's head and feet, make sure that you allow for these when walking through doorways etc. Be aware of his or her hands and what they might be able to reach, again particularly with back carries.
If you are going to use your Joey Sling for a young baby or newborn, it is essential that you bring the straps around the back of your baby in order to close up the sides of the Mei Tai so that young babies cannot slip out. You can see to the right and below how the straps are wide enough to completely close the gaps at the side of the Mei Tai.
You can also roll the waistband up in order to shorten the body of the Mei Tai if you are carrying a young baby or newborn and feel that the body of the Mei Tai is too long. .
